Stand the stick upright in the included ceramic holder — dhoop has no bamboo core, so unlike agarbatti it can’t be planted in an ash pot. Light the tip slowly and let it catch evenly (a big flare at lighting makes more smoke), then wave the flame out gently so the tip smolders. Keep the room ventilated; if a full stick feels like too much for a small room, snuff it out halfway and relight it later. Rest the holder on a stable, heatproof surface, away from drafts.

No — charcoal-free isn’t the same as smoke-free. SattvaRoma dhoop sticks are made from pure botanicals without a charcoal core, which gives a clean burn — no charcoal, no bamboo core, unlike traditional incense — but they still produce natural smoke, like any burning incense. Keep your space ventilated while burning.
